Need help figuring out how to use multirotor-control board with 4 in 1 ESC

I have a QBrain 4x25A ESC and a kk2.1 HC multi-rotor control board. I got these parts second hand and I can't seem to figure out how to use them. On the QBrain there are 4 wires S1, S2, S3, S4. I have no clue what those do and what they are connected to. I'm also missing the programmer for the kk 2.1 control board and so I will probably need referrals to another controller.

any help would be appreciated!!

You can connect a kk2 to a 4 in one.. However unless your soldering skills are top notch its going to be a MAJOR struggle trying to solder the super tiny pads they used vs the pre made connectors to a mated FC.

I would get a more up to date F4 flight controller or above to be more compatible with the esc's features and abilities.

As for the kk2 I am not 100 % sure but I think after seeing one of David Vindestals early videos you can program the kk as is using the 4 buttons and lcd screen. That said I would use that with single non 32 bit esc's that run one shot... MAYBE as high as multi shot.. As I said I am not very familiar with a KK2.

I would definately say go ahead and get a new flight controller. I personally like the simplicity of the cl racing f4, and I've never had a problem with mine. The kk2.1 is going to be difficult to work with, as it is extremely outdated. There is tons of information on the internet about the newer flight controllers, and I'm sure you'd figure it out in no time.

The q brain esc looks fairly simple, but once again it is quite outdated.

What are you planning to put these parts on?

That is my problem with the q brain, it does look simple but still, I cannot figure out what goes where for the S1 to 4 wires

I got a quadcopter from my coach that he built himself a long time ago. I think it still works? but yeah I agree it's outdated. Would a f4 board like the HGLRC XJB F438 be suitable for my purposes? Sorry if I seem noobie. I am very new to rotary wings

That board will work if you get it set up right. Is it a miniquad or a bigger one? If you have any pictures that'd be great.

Yup I do. I've used it on my simple cub. Any recommendations for a new fc? My soldering isn't very good so any fc involving that I would not be very confident
I don’t know of any fc that does not need to be soldered. It’s pretty easy to learn, so it’ll take you no time. I like the cl racing f4s board

I dug deeper into this ESC and putting anything newer then F4 on this is just wasted processing power. The max protocol for this esc I believe after a minimal amount of digging is only Multishot. Technically It would benefit more from the OG gremlin femto esc as F4 and above introduces Dshot which is not usable on this esc.

Its a tough decision and I think it only boils down to your soldering skills as the KK2 would be fine on a camera platform build like this. Nothing fancy is needed unless you want GPS, OSD, and all the bells and whistles at which point you may as well shelf the KK2 and this esc for newer mated betaflight Fc / esc stack

Makes sense. @Blorglue what are you intending this quad to be used for? If it's just to mess around with for fun, might as well keep what you have on it.
