Props 2 blade vs 3 blades

I see that most people fly two bladed props but I see some fly 3 bladed. I read that most claim 3 blades are not as Efficient. But I notice CharpU flies 3 bladed props. Does he know something?

More blades are less efficient than less blades, but more blades on a prop of the same diameter means more thrust produced in the same disc area. Since mini quads have a limit for prop size, more blades is the only alternative.

3 blades are less efficient because the individual blades are closer together. Therefore, the blades are in the turbulence of the blades in front of them. On the flip side, 3 blades have more thrust, just as ScottyWarpNine said.

That might be true because the motor can spin at a lower RPM but still generate the same amount of thrust.
It would be good to try to know for sure though.

After i get up in the air and feeling a bit more confident i will look into getting some 3 bladed props. It looks like a gemfan 3 blade 5030 is similar to a gemfan 2 blade 6045
