Gone with the Mistral
Not really scratch building, but more what to do with some pieces available.
Donor airframe started life as a HK 1000mm dlg.
I learn to fly r/c with this thing. Fuselage was repaired many times, tails surfaces bitten, but wing survived without a single scratch.
First thing was to get ok with the idea of cutting a perfect wing in half to remove (a lot of) dihedral...
Cut ailerons and nose, dig servos pockets, some GF here and there.
I already have a 1804 motor, a 10amp esc (brake 'on') and a 5030 prop (not foldable).
It's ok with my 2S/300mAh-35-70C battery stock, nice (x5).
6A@wot ~ 220gr thrust
3x banggood 5gr servos for flaperons and rudder
1x D47 for elevator
pull spring linkage for ele and rud. Using guitar chord E as spring and braided kevlar fishing wire (strong + no strech).
The vertical stab is recycle from an old F3K stab.
Rx HK-TR6
auw = 185gr (including 4gr of lead on the tail and still feel a bit nose heavy).
Maiden was made with some wind. Had to calm down the sound from the mobius cam...
The thing is on rails even with the gusty wind (no F3K today, I don't risk it).
One default: when diving thr off, the prop turns creating drag and it's pretty annoying.
I must add:
- some black and white stripes for more visibility.
- downthrust angle maybe plus elevator mix.
- camber + reflex mode (thermal and speed).
- little bit of expos to keep throws as it is (full).
