Hey there flite fans, I’m a new guy to the Rc plane society in the uk, and I am looking for some people willing to guide me through scratch building foamies. I’ve been working on a tiny trainer recently, and here are some problems I’ve met.
1)the foam in uk for sale is different to Flite test foam or any us foamboard, (I’m not from us ) and is very ”compressed”, hard to cut(it tears) and the paper is not normal paper you would see in other foam boards, plus it is impossible to remove.
Solved! I used 6mm insulation board and tape covered it, basically making my very own foam board. Insulation I used is Diall polystyrene foam insulation boards 6mm from b&q, 16 £for 8 80x60cm sheets is quite good. The thing cuts much better and is very light weight. Love it.
2) I don’t personally like the way Josh put glue in the score lines of the lines in the wing, so I used a carbon fiber rod instead. Canceled the dihedral part and put in a gyro stabilizer to balance it out.
That‘s all the big problems I had until now, but I would be very happy if someone came along and helped me out with the foam board, since I’m pretty jealous of the guys using cheap and good foam in the us, so I would like to buy some foam like flite teste stuff if possible in the uk. Secondly, I really need someone to guide me along plz! Thanks!
ps. I posted some half finished photos of my FTTT
