My recommendation is a Mega-Sized Nut-ball: Kraken-Nuts? (build it around 32in dia. with Slightly reduced dihedral on the wing tips) with the motor buried in a slot at around 20% chord for a little extra protection. The battery will need to sit forward of that, and I might put a little sacrificial block of EPP or styrofoam just ahead of the battery for a little protection from direct hits to the pavement. Dont go crazy on the throws. My son learned on one with a normal front mounted motor, and had a blast. Eventually we built a second one with more dihedral and throws, and he could roll it like a drill.
