What kind of glue?

I have this Trainstar Exchange trainer and the battery tray is coming loose inside the fuse. The fuse is molded plastic and the battery tray is foam. I am not sure what kind of plastic or foam as I am not versed on telling the difference.

My questions is, can I hot glue the battery tray in or is there a better glue or method? Thanks ahead of time for the advice. Also, it is really hard to access this with my big hands, but I can get on the top of the tray easily, but it would be hard to sand or rough up...

That's probably gonna come down to modeler's choice. I believe that I would be inclined to try some thick and chewy CA with a little baking soda filler.

Hot glue is not a bad choice either but some glue guns heat it up too much and melt the foam.

There is one not far, but it is hard access and bad traffic getting there. Probably will order some online and try it, thanks!

You could drill some small holes for BBQ sticks and hot glue them below the b tray.
