2 EDFs one thrust tube consideration. Is it possible or will it deter from effective thrust?

I am building a scratch build own design EDF jet with delta wing and canards. Wing is about 7 ft wide by 3 feet at fuselage mounting point. I am using two 80 mm EDFs and instead of each having own thrust tube can I combine them into one tube. The engines will be connected to thrust tube 12 inches from thrust tube end opening. Can I have them connected to one tube or do I need to keep them in their own thrust tube? Is the thrust increased by combining or decreased?

What is important is the cross sectional area of the combined thrust tube must be twice that required for a single EDF.
The other issue is how smoothly the exhaust from each EDF is combined into one. All to easy to loose thrust through inefficient ducting with the high speed exhaust air flow.
Individual ducts are a much safer option for maintaining thrust

I have two EDFs sharing a single inlet but the exhaust ducts are completely independent.
