Ok, last update before the maiden tomorrow. Also apologies in advance if I don't get a video.
Landing gear was very straightforward, some thin music wire backed with scrap ply.
I made wheels from three layers of DFTB using aluminum tube for the hubs.
I cut the airfoil shape of the axle cover on the scroll saw and sandwiched the assembly together using a 1/8" aluminum rod as an axle.
A little bit of sanding and the airfoil cover is nice and... airfoiled. As a side note if you're ever putting together a model-making workshop and you only have room for one or two large bench tools make one of them a scroll saw.
Cut and layered more scrap ply for the tail skid. Used a small piece of brass shim stock for the skid shoe.
Tied the LG together with kevlar cord.
The struts still need painting and there are a few finishing touches left to do, but here it is all ready to maiden.
Totally worth $2 for the copper metallic paint on the mock exhaust. Also I can't put anything on the floor for more than five seconds without attracting company.
