I just went to a GREAT one in NY. 5th Avenue, East 36th Street. Called Pilotage Fun And Hobby. Check it out here, http://www.pilotagefun.com/

While a hobby shop in the city may be a good day vacation, it's a bit far for everyday purchaces. (Ie. 320 miles one way.) I don't know about Upstate NY, but near Syracuse there's Walt's Hobby Town. If they don't have it, they can get it. Used to be Redneck RC in Oswego, dunno if they're still there or not.

Mexico ny has a small shop. Rochester has two stores
