Cut away heat shrink from antenna?

Is it OK to cut away this part, where the heat shrink is empty?

Hi knave88 welcome to the forum! No you can not cut away that part of the heat shrink. It is actually not empty, there is a small exposed conductor in there that is the antenna itself.

Yep. The larger bit just below the tip is a crimp coupling between the flexy copper, and the active antenna wire.

Why did you need to cut it?

If you change the length of the signal wire, you're going to run into reception issues. Antennas have to have a specific length compared to the signal wavelength.
