Hi folks,
I am trying to find a solution for a quick FPV setup that can be swapped between planes easily. The thing is that I want all-in-one and it can't really be found anywhere. which is odd, because I can't be the only one that is looking for something like this. SO LET'S BUILD IT!!
Basically I want a Mobius formfactor, containing a 200-250 mw tx (32channel 5.8 Ghz). An 1080p 30fps cam with recording function. About a 500MaH battery that can be swapped easlily. All in one set that velco's onto an airframe. So that when I go flying and my son wants to watch it in FPV, I than just velcro it onto the nose of the plane, he puts on his goggles and off we go!! Nex flight I want to go FPV myself: put new battery in it and off we go again.
Than later when we get home I get to take the SD card out and watch it all again in HD quality. So no need for 2 camera's on a plane, just one set that has it all.
Now there are some solutions like this available:
Ilook camera or the iLook+ camera: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ansmitter.html
or the Quanum version: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ansmitter.html
Than there is the Boscam: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._recorder.html
And of course the Spektrum micro: http://www.horizonhobby.com/ultra-mi...tter-spmva1100
Newest addition is this one. This comes close in size but no HD: http://hobbywireless.com/58-ghz-tran...hz-p-1802.html RCTestflight has placed a nice review by the way on his youtube channel.
All of them are missing something:
It's is either the "way too large" GoPro formfactor or it has no recording function, or no battery swapping capability.
Anyway I think that with a small set of individual items (tx/cam/battery)
It should be possible to Make something that fits in a 3D printed box and has everything you need for a full FPV setup with recording 1080p capability and has a switchable battery so you can use the set many times on a good flying day.
Then the big question: Am I looking for a product that already exists somewhere in the Universe, or is there someone that has made something like this..??? I liked the micro DiY episode, but that is just for transmitting and the quality is a quite bit too low.
a picture that probably says more than all this together:
what do you guys think? could this be a show idea and is it Make-able?
