DIY FPV Goggles: Cheap, but practical

Yo guys,

So I am looking to get into FPV on the cheap.  And I figured the best way to do that is to buy an AiO camera + VTx and make my own goggles with a small LCD monitor and VRx.

I plan on purchasing this AiO camera:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01NBHLMW9/ref=pd_aw_sim_23_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=M5GMXJZ7KP85F2J34PPC&dpPl=1&dpID=51GhQ5jZPeL

However for the goggles I am not sure...
I've seen a ton of threads, articles, and videos depicting DIY foamboard goggles with a small LCD display, but some included frescal lenses, some had rectangular magnifying lenses, and others had reading glasses.  What is the difference and advantage to these various techniques?  Is there a difference?

Finally, I am unsure of the connections that need to be made to hook up the LCD to the VRx and to power it.  Could someone explain that for me?

Thanks,

- Sir Fly

Btw here is the VRx I am planning on buying:

And here is the LCD screen (4.3"):

So found a new screen that has no blue or black screen, is bigger, and also has a xt60 connector attached for ~$10 more:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01K1U7LU0/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495567001&sr=8-1-fkmr2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=5"+lcd+monitor+no+blue+screen

Does having the xt60 connector mean I can just plug in a Lipo that has an output of 12v?

Oh gotcha. I looked over these goggles because normally I purchase all my gear from Amazon. On Amazon they're full price.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! So this model can just be powered off a lipo?

Yep, they come with an xt60 - barrel jack connector that you can use to power them with a 2s or 3s lipo. This seems to be the normal price for them from hobbyking despite the "sale". Also be sure to order from their US warehouse, not global. They are the same price and will ship much faster. The screen already has a 3.5mm jack that will plug directly into that receiver. It comes with a giant bundle of cables, one of which splits the barrel connector into one for the screen plus one for your receiver.

Ok great guys thanks for all the help!

As for the fatsharks I'll think about it. It is definitely a great price for what you are offering, but I am not sure I even want to spend that much. I am trying to keep to a budget of $100 total for all the fpv gear, and this would push me over, but not by a lot. I will definetly consider your offer! :D

No problems. Flying FPV is too fun for these to sit around unused.
