Elmers Foamboard snow skis

In the world of foamboard I have found two kinds. Dollar tree foamboard and Elmers foamboard. Elmers foamboard is allot more dense and quite a bit heavier then the dollar tree stuff but it seems to hold up very well to heavy spray paint and water. So with this I present real model airplane skis!

They are rather simple to build, Using ELMERS foamboard (usually found at walmart and meijers for 3.00$ a sheet) Cut a piece of foamboard into a 12" by 3" piece, a 50% scorecut at about the 2 1/4 " mark makes the curve. Then add some bracing and use Popsicle sticks to re enforce where the landing gear wire goes. For finishing you want to seal the edges of the foamboard with hot glue and then I used two layers of Rustoleum spray paint to finish off the skis.

Here have more pictures for inspiration.

Feel more then free to make your own and post your experience with them as well as any upgrades. Also I would be honored if these made it into an episode of flitetest. Happy building and I will check back often to answer any questions.
