hi, i am a bit of a noob but i'd like some tips on how to solder or if there is a connector out there where i can but one, any tips for soldering will be appreciated.

What kind of connector do you plan to use? Different connectors like the XT60 have different methods than those of something like an EC3.

batteries have several different types of connectors you need to put on a connector for the type that comes on your battery and plan on making peg tails with different types of connectors on them so you can use different brands of batteries other wise you have to cut off the connectors on the battery to match the esc and this can be a bit hazardous.
A good majority of the people on here use the XT60.
I use the Deans and make up a pig tail with an XT60 on one end and a Deans on the other so we can interchange them
