Flying in Riverside, CA area?

Hi - new to the hobby, live in Riverside CA (about 60 miles east of LA, in the great Inland Empire).

About to start building on Christmas (lots of presents for my kids: radios, simulator, batteries, FliteTest power pack, all bought, plan templates cut out, and foam being stockpiled). Hoping to spend about 3-4 days building and learning as much as possible with the simulator, then would like to get out and try flying for real.

After doing a quick check of park regulations in my town, it appears that model aircraft are prohibited :(

Anybody in my area know of good places that I can fly? Not wanting to expend the $$ on club, AMA membership, "testing", etc - that's why I'm so interested in "park flyers". Will still check out the 2-3 local clubs, but really hoping there's a good field nearby that we can go to.

Thanks!
