Hello all, I’m a new member on the forums. I’ve been a “lurker” for awhile, but now I’m all signed up. I’m in Fayette county, Alabama, I’m into all things R/C. I mainly do airplanes, helicopters, cars (on and off road), and boats. I am also into 3d printing, CNC lasers, and fabrication, I love to use new tech to solve old problems. Hoping to attend my first Flite Fest this year!!

Welcome! What's your favorite plane (so far)?
I'm a sucker for Piper Cubs and Warbirds. But. since I am pretty new at flying (successfully), I've been very happy with my Apprentice STOL. I attempted to learn to fly back in the early 1990's, but crashed every plane I tried to fly. Simulators were prohibitively expensive back then, and there was no such thing as AS3x, Safe, or stabilization of any kind. Probably going to build a FT Tudor when I get home from work tonight and fly it for a bit before I try and fly my balsa planes that I have been building over the last few months.

That’s a good plane to learn on! Good choice!

Once you feel like a warbird and have mastered the apprentice, you could build one of the FT swappable warbirds!

I haven't flown the tutor but I hear it is a good trainer. If you like warbirds the FT swappable Spitfire is an amazing design. You can find most of the free FT plans here:

Welcome, I see you hale from north central AL , I am in the SE area and hope to meet you yet in 25. I seem to be the foam board guy for this area. I’m not particularly good at it but I have a lot of fun and it saves me tons of money as I crash a lot despite being much better than I used to be. Birmingham has an active club if you didn’t already know.

Nice to meet you. I have been checking out the Birmingham RC club's site, I am going to try and make it up to the field to meet some people and possible join the club soon (hopefully). I've been pretty busy with work and family commitments recently, but I'm hoping to have more free time soon. I'm only about an hour from B'ham, so the drive isn't bad at all.

See you at Flite Fest!
So far, the possibility is looking good. My wife doesn't fly (yet), but she loves watching me fly, and loves the Flite Fest YT videos I've showed her. So, as long as I can get work covered, I think I can talk her into going. I'm hoping that she will decide to give it a try when she sees how much fun everyone is having!
