Solved How much thrust will I need to fly this plane?

So I am building a plane and it has a wingspan of 40'' a chord of 8'', ~300 sq inches of wing area cause it is not a rectangular wing. It is also 30'' long and 2.5'' wide. It will weigh around 20.5 oz. How much thrust will I need to fly my plane?

I have a 9x5 prop on a 1300kv 2830 DYS motor on a 3cell 1300mah with a 30A ESC

Also quick question
Since a 3cell has ~11.1volts if I go half throttle will it go 7215 RPM? Since 11.1/2 * 1300 = 7215?

If you want to fly it kinda slow and calmly, you should be fine. If not I'd choose a bigger prop. The motor should be able to handle it just fine.

Your math checks out, but that is on a dead battery. When lipos are charged they are actually closer to 4.2 volts per cell. That puts you at 12.6, which at half throttle gives you 8190rpm. On a bigger prop you'll have plenty of power.

Good luck and get flying!
