Help! Naza and Arducopter Copter Telemetry to X8R

Hey guys

I have two F450 copters, one with Arducopter and the other with Naza. My TX is a QX7S, which I use with either Radiomaster R168 or FrSky X8R.

The articles on the topic that I found are unfortunately already several years old and also refer to products that are no longer available, such as the telemetry converter from Zaggy.

I also don't want to install scripts, because that makes things even more complicated in my eyes.

The Naza boards are almost absolete these days. Not an easy task for something that old that wasn't designed with today's modern protocols.

Depending on what flight controller and Ardupilot version you have, that one may be natively supported. Again, if it is really old hardware or firmware, it may be very difficult to do.

What flight controller versions do you have, and what version of the firmware is running on them. Pictures of the hardware would help us answer your questions.

In the meantime, I found that a little hardware thingy called Zagoometry is necessary for Naza Telemetry.

FC is Arducopter 2.8 and the Firmware 3.2.1.

Again, you are using older hardware that can not run the latest firmware that supports modern telemetry radios. You will most likely need an adapter like this https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-frsky-mavlink.html

Have a look at the ardupulot telemetry documentation here https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-telemetry-landingpage.html for more information.

Dumb question why are you wanting telemetry? Only thing I can think ( could be wrong ) is battery voltage, use a timer instead. What am I missing?

That cable will not work with an old APM flight controller. An APM flight controller also will not run the newer version of the firmware required for that type of telemetry. You will need the other one I refernced in the previous message above. https://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/common-frsky-mavlink.html

Trust me, I have been using these ardupulot APM 2.8 boards since they were originally out and still fly Ardupulot on modern hardware. And yes, I use telemetry passthrough to the LUA scripts referenced in the documentation, but with modern hardware and the latest firmware.
