Need a Radio!!!

I've had a spectrum dx6i for a few years now but never really used it. Never like it. Too confusing to use/setup. I bought a rtf plane that came with a flysky fs-t4b. I like this radio in its simplicity. It binds easily and just works. I'm in the process of building a versacopter and I decided to buy a dedicated radio for it. I chose the flysky fs-t6. The receiver that came with it had the servo pins vertical. I wanted one with the pins running horizontal to fit better. I found a fs-ia6b online and ordered it. Can you see where this is going yet? This receiver and transmitter are not compatible. This is killing me. I've done this 2 times before with recievers. It seems there is no guide that can help slow learners like myself. I'm close to just giving up and either selling all my stuff or testing out how unstable lipo's really are. Seriously I need a radio that will go with this tx but I want to buy from the US. Can't stand waiting months for overseas shipments. Oh yeah and my budget is low. Under $100.

Best I could find so far.

The thread is pretty old and the i-6 seems to have replaced the t-6, but there are some instructions on how to mod the radio and set it up as well as at least one link to a manual. This is the front page of that thread on RCGroups.

This receiver is on Amazon so probably China...

Why not open up the old receiver and solder the pins the way you want. It's the cheapest solution of all if you have the tools.

The ia6b RX works with the FlySky/Turnigy i6, i6S or the new i6X... You probably want Mode 2 but that can be reconfigured if necessary.

You will have a hard time buying from a US vendor for a decent price but you can get the i6 here for a reasonable price...

if you want help out a small US business.

that said if you want the latest i6X the Banggood is you best bet...

or you could get the previous i6 for a bit less
http://www.banggood.com/FlySky-FS-i...h-FS-iA6B-Receiver-p-983537.html?rmmds=search

they both come with receivers.

When ordering from Banggood do not use the free shipping option but instead the cheapest shipping option - "Priority Direct Mail". I have had good luck with that delivering reasonably promptly. It's usually only a couple of bucks more.

The i6S is multirotor oriented...no elevon mixing and only one free mix so no diff thrust or other fixed wing niceties...so give that one a miss if you fly fixed wing at all.

It sounds like quite the headache figuring all of this out. I don't know if there are any receivers that have horizontal pins for the t6.

A different radio is probably in order. The older t6 radio doesn't have PPM, or IBus support which apparently can be nice on a multi-rotor. Also, the new radios work with the IA6B Rx you currently have.

With $100 to spend, and no desire to wait for something to be shipped from China I would probably go with the Flysky FS-i6x on Amazon for $80. It is a radio kit with the TX, and another ia6b receiver. It is the newest model with 10 channels, and so it should do just about anything I could think of needing in a radio (still new to this stuff myself). If you have Amazon Prime you could have it in a couple of days, so not bad shipping time considering the premium price for ordering it from a US source.

If you decide that you can wait this same radio can be had on Banggood for $55-$57 depending on the receiver you order it with. There is also an off brand verions "IRange-X" for $47 which is probably the same, but I haven't heard anything about it specifically.

FWIW I have been very happy with my i6. When I first started looking into radios the t6 was still coming up in a lot of searches, but for the money the i6 just seemed like a better deal to my newbie eyes. While I don't see any reason personally to upgrade to the new version I would probably do it if I had the t6. The upside is that you can still use the t6 if you want to set up a buddy box, or sell it, and recover some of your money back.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I just don't want to wait 4-6 weeks for a radio that is why want a US supplier. Also banggood is a no go. I've tried ordering from them before and had horrible experiences. I will never order from them again. I'll check out the i6 on amazon.
