The black box is something I thought about as well. The problem is with my receiver. It will continue sending pulses even if it loses signal from the radio. Unless your black box is also listening to the same radio it will not engage.
The advantage of what Joshua described is that the Frysky receiver itself has a button that you use to set failsafe. Just put all your control inputs to the position you want them in if the signal is lost and it does that automatically.
