(Newbie Question) What Rx Modulation is used for which flying vehicles?

So I know there are different modulations like PWM and PCM ect, iBus and Sbus...
I've read the differences between them and understand how they differ, but I didn't see any information on which is best for which application.
So what is best for 4 Ch planes, or Best for Quadcopter/Race drones... etc.....

Would love to know what is best for my application. 4Ch plane.

Its not the application but if you have a flight controller or not. Use PWM for a plane w/o a flight controller. If you have a FC, use what ever it can use.

Most servos need PWM, don’t care if the PWM comes from a Rx or FC. It’s easier to connect the Rx to the FC with something other than PWM

As Merv said, most servos expect a PWM signal. 99% of ESC's can also accept PWM, but most that are designed for multirotors can also use other, faster protocols like OneSHot and DSHOT. Modern flight controllers no longer accept PWM input, most are designed to be used with serial protocols like SBUS or IBUS, which have much lower latency.
