Did you decide on what system to use to prevent another lost plane?

I guess I'll just run my fpv system of a seperate battery and use a battery buzzer. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Yes best if you can find a friend with a solid quadcopter and carefully video the area you last saw go down. this gives you video coverage you can analyze carefully on a big screen tv. You battery will likely be a writeoff but that plane will be in there somewhere.
