Quick way to find out if your on the right track is take it up high, chop throttle then cycle gear. If it goes down then you know your on the right track about the esc / motors. Another thing to check is if the retract wires are running parallel to any esc wires. That would certainly induct interference into the retract wires. even with my minimal build and flight experience with fixed wing I have always ran esc and power wires on one side of the fuse and the signal wires on the other. It the have to cross at any point I route then so any crossing is done at 90 degrees
