Simple Cub Landing Gear mod

Here is my stock simple cub landing gear, modified to look more J-3ish. I started with 2 pieces of 12 gauge copper electrical wire, bent to form the upper attachment - they stick into the foam mounting for the gear, just below the gear legs, then they cross over, where I hammer them together, wrap them with thin copper wire strands and solder them. I flatten out the wire just below there (hidden by the boots) and drill them with a 1/16 bit. Hook a little spring to each of them and finish off with some .040 stainless lock wire, run through the plastic insulation from a 14 gauge electrical wire & wrapped around the gear leg, below the foam. Painted to match & vinyl glued over the spring to hide it. Not too bad. Allows the gear to flex as normal.

That looks great!

I went with a two wire on my 150% and 1/8" for the main and 3/32" on the rear leg. Fairing in between them.

There's a bomb hanging between the wheels, so no stock gear.
