You can make a steerable nose gear for your Retro Rocket using readily available materials! One of our club members came up with this method that can be done with a swivel ball link, by epoxying a servo arm to the landing gear arm, or by using a typical steering arm. Glue a 1/2" thick wood block to the inside snap-in plate as shown over the hole in the plate, then drill through the block with a bit that will allow the landing gear shaft to rotate freely. Bend the shaft and fit the wheel. Tighten one of the collars on the straight end of the shaft, leaving enough below the plate for the usual gear length. Put another collar on the top of the block to trap the shaft in place, then bend the shaft over in the same direction as the first bend for the wheel. Glue a servo behind the block as shown.
You can connect the two using thread and epoxy to attach a servo gear to the shaft as shown here,
or a swivel ball link with a few more collars,
or don't bend the upper shaft over - use a regular nose gear steering arm (not shown).
