Angry Bee - the Scary Super Bee from So.Cal.

Built from a stock speed-build kit bought on-site at Flite Fest West, I decided to put my own spin on the SuperBee.

I had a couple of RS2205-2600 red-bottom motors from another project, so they would do nicely. That "other project" was a speedy combat wing, and it was my experiment to see if those RS2205's would hold up on 6S voltage..... They did.

So I'll cut to the chase, here are the dirty details:

Motors: RS2250-2600Kv - http://alofthobbies.com/rs2205-2600kv-ccw.html

Battery: 1550mAh 6s Nano-Tech - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-1550mah-6s-65-130c-lipo-pack-450l-heli.html

ESC's: 35A 2-6s Lumenier BLHeli_S ESC - http://www.getfpv.com/lumenier-35a-blheli-s-esc-opto-2-6s.html
(or similar fast 35A racequad ESC)

Props: 4045 KingKong 2-blade props - https://hobbyking.com/en_us/kingkong-4045-red.html
Also flew on HQ-Prop 4045 2-blades

Rx & Servo power: 500mAh 2s + 5V voltage regulator
(not needed if your ESC's have a BEC)

Put all that together and you can have one of these too:

Everything internally is stock - I didn't use ANY carbon or wood reinforcements. My only additions/mods were cosmetic: a strake on the vertical tail to change its "swoop", and a few wingtip/tailtip trims to give it my own personal shape.

CAUTION: This plane is fast. I mean, stinky fast. :D

That's cause he already flew it and KNEW.. That thing is plain sinister the way it sounds and fly's.

I was flying my 90 wing at the time but i definitely HEARD IT COMING! lol. I wonder how those redbottoms will hand 6s over time.

Ben, do you have any estimates for what kind of top speed you were getting?

Nothing scientific or verifiable, but I know it was over 100mph based on watching my SK3 which I have telemetry recording it at 97mph. Other trained eyes on the field said it could've been close to 120mph. So, split the difference with a little fudge and call it 112 !? :p

LOL. I love it when people put insane speed on common planes. After flying how warm were the motors? That thing is crazy fast.

The motors were a little warm, but not overly so. Certainly not hot, I could easily hold my hand on them without pain. The ESC's were downright cool. Not even warm at all. I think that's helped a bit by the fact that I don't fly flat-out the whole time, and also the cooling access to the ESC's.

Cool no heat issues no magical smoke.. Change props and make it go faster !!!! add some fpv or onboard video so we can see what it looks like from the flight perspective.

I don't have any FPV gear, but an onboard Runcam2 is definitely on the list for the next flight!

I decommisioned my 200% FT22 and have been looking for something to move the motors on to after i finish my current project. I have two of the NTM 3546 1800kv 875w motors that i was using on it. The ones nerdnic test on 6s in this video:

Thinking maybe a 200% bee would fit these as an easy project for next years FFW.

Nice! I DEFINITELY want to see that! Funfact: That's the exact 6S battery that I use in my AngryBee.

I thought they looked similar. I need to invest in some actual 6s. Currently on my big guinea pig i just combine 3s packs together to get up to 6s.

Is that a typo? It's a 3536 1800kv right?
