Balsa kits to 3D Prints

Has anyone ever thought about turning all the balsa wood pieces of a kit and tried to 3D print all the parts needed (Spars, covering, etc.) The weight seems about the same along with strength. Taking the planes and converting them doesn't seem that hard either. Let me know if anyone has ever ventured into this area of building. Thanks!

I'm currently working on a 3d printed plane. What I've learned is that Polypropylene is a good plastic, because its only 75% the density of PLA. However, it's still denser than balsa wood.
