covering Foamboard plane with iron on Solar Film?

has anyone tried covering their plane with Solar Film? I used it heaps on balsa planes and thought it might be worth a try.

Main issues would be heat melting stuff and the shrinkage warping the foam board.

I have used solite as it requires less heat - no problems.

Any pics pgerts? I am sure the finished product would be fantastic. It rains a lot here in NZ and I don't see my foamies having a great lifespan without some serious water proofing.

What I have done with some serious practice is using things similar to cling wrap, and a heat gun on low, with a little practice I got to very few small wrinkles.

I use 3mm DI laminate sold at several hobby dealers, http://www.alofthobbies.com/new-stuff-laminating-films.html and http://www.crashtesthobby.com/10-feet-of-laminate.html although I bought a roll 42" wide by 350' long from a graphics laminator company. It is both waterproof and UV resistant. It has a thermal glue on 1 surface and practically no shrinkage. Work great on foam board and greatly strengthens it.
