Did I get a bad ESC?

This afternoon, I purchased an E-Flite 10-Amp Pro Brushless ESC (EFLA1010) from my LHS and am worried that it may be faulty.

When I connect a 2S battery to the ESC, it emits 3 beeps, indicating that it detects a 3S battery. When I power it up, the motor quickly spins up, then backs off to a slower speed for a few seconds, then quits completely.

• This is connected to a brand new E-Flite Park 250 motor purchased at the same time.
• I have tried multiple 2S batteries with the same result.
• Swapping in a different ESC resolves the issue and the system runs up to full power.

Is there some way to reset the ESC or correct or do I need to request RMA?

Thanks!

...and then I felt REALLY stupid!

After a lifetime of telling people to RTFM, I get the tables turned!

Am I misremembering or do some other brands of ESC's auto-detect/guess the cell count of the connected pack? I could swear that my Plush or BLHeli's from the FT store automatically switched between 2S and 3S...

In any case...you were exactly right. I set it for 2S and runs like a champ! Thank you!
