Did I ruin my video transmiter?

So I got a $12 cloverleaf antenna that said it was made for fatshark video transmitters. But it ended up being reverse sma (there was no little bar inside to connect to transmitter) and I flew my plane with it. I ended up crashing because of the horrible range. I heard not to turn on the transmitter without any antenna so did I ruin my transmiter?

It's possible, do you have your original antennas? You may try them out and see for sure.
I've had a few survive mishaps like that, only had one go bad from no antenna, but then again I never flew with it like that.
