If you can build light enough, and I do means light, then a small EDF is quite possible but it does require some expert building skills.
True scale, 810 mm (32") span, 40 mm EDF, a 1400 mAh
2s and it weighs just 202 g ready to go.
A DH Venom. Twin booms are not so easy to build but the short fuselage means the EDF duct is also short.
It does not fly fast so is easy to hand launch and can be flown in quite a small space. Lands on grass with no damage.
If you can fly a similar sized prop plane you can fly this.
The problems? It is built using just 2 mm foam sheet, it uses 3 tiny 2.5 g servos and a micro 4 channel radio. To save weight everything apart from the battery is
permanently built in.
My advice would be to stick to small prop planes until you have access to a big enough site to fly a 'proper' EDF.
