I think I some how screwed this part up and I am worried that I am not going to be able to fix it. The frame is not the same width as the top part of the panel. I am at a loss. I would appreciate any suggestions and advice.

My go-to method is to heat up a thin putty knife with a heat gun and the gently put it between the glued pieces. The key is to not push too hard. Heat it up good, start wiggling it between the pieces and stop when you can’t move any further easily. Re-heat and repeat.
I use the same method as Mr. Grinch. “Careful application of isopropyl can loosen hot glue.” And of course patience to let the chemical reaction take place.

I have an idea if you want to try it. score the paper around the top part, just enough to cut the paper. then just peel it off the bottom piece.
then unglue the paper from the top part and glue it back were it belongs. remember that the paper on the foamboard it is just heat pressedon and not glued on.
