hey guys, iv order the sony camera for my next build.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151196026475?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

iv have the hobbyking version 2 cheap goggles in a box ready to be assembled.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/..._FPV_Goggle_V2_w_5_inch_LCD_Monitor_Kit_.html

now i need a tx/rx. im considering this, would this be ok?

( also seems these will fit in the goggles.. unlike the really large immersion )

http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-8G-200mW-...698feb&pid=100010&rk=4&rkt=17&sd=331567678216

do you think this will be ok, or should i spend the extra for the 32 channels. ill need better antenna's too.
thank you for your help.

ill just get a cheap camera for the goggles i do not need anything special for that as that is just so you can see with out taking off the goggles quickly. so a 12.00 cheapie should do.. i went with the sonys thinking optics are always where you spend your money.. i just hope i do not break it on my first crash.. sigh.. laughs
also not sure what battery to get, lots to look into yet.

well i went ahead and orderd this tx/rx 200w. yeah i know 600w is more idea.. but its so open here. i think ill be fine just to dabble in FPV to see if this is something im intrested in.

i did switch the model i stayed with 8ch.. but i went with a push button, instead of dip switchs.. my logic it would be easier to push a button than deal with dip switches when its in the goggles.

ill be sure to let ya know how this works out.. as this is probably the cheapest way to get into FPV,

Looks like a standard boscam 200mw unit. That's what I use. I've got over 1k with it with no breakup of the signal - just be sure to get some decent CP antennas and you'll be ok unless you're flying around a lot of foliage.

I personally prefer the dip switches. With the button you have to cycle through frequencies to get to the one you want - so if other people are flying you have to wait until they're done to change frequencies...or have a dummy load to connect up so you're not radiating while changing. Push button on the RX would be nice (along with a full 32ch) for "browsing" other people if you're flying in a group. But on the TX I much prefer dip's.

i did not think of that. im so stupid sometimes. oh well. this will have to do for now. yeah i wont be around any body soon.. im pretty much a loaner these days and i do not drive because of my accident.. i stop driving after i had my anurizem. not that i legally have too. i just feel better this way.

yeah no foliage here.. a few cactus and a couple of trees that are more skeletons than trees.. heh. and i can see through them, and they are not where ill be flying.

sounds like this will work fine.
thanks for the feed back.. i really have no clue what im doing.. just sorta winging it. heh. yeah i will get some cheap antennas. not sure which ones to get yet as there seem to be 2 options.

also need a extension cable too.

quick update.

the camera i ordered from here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151196026475...:MEBIDX:IT

arrived today, pretty quick.. i love ordering from cali.. always gets here much quicker than even in my own state for some reason. heh.

i can recommend this seller, and the product seems top notch.

granted iv not hooked it up, but from a presentation point of view it came in a really nice package RunCam logo on the box in a nice print.
the camera was much smaller than i was thinking for some stupid reason, even tho if i looked at my quad i would know it would have to be..

i have the other bits coming in soon.. i need to order antennas, and a extension yet and a battery and i will start my next build..

i ordered a cheap set of set of Antennas, SMA..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121454741219

i also ordered some elbo's.. as i figure ill need one for the quad antenna as it will mount to the top carbon plate.
now i need a extension.. how long do you guys recommend? seems you can get them in 4, 6, 8" seems to me since this is going on a mini.. 4" should be long enough? would you agree? or should i go longer?

after a night to sleep on this extension cable i have come to the simple solution of just waiting till i need it so i can measure the exact length.. its really the only way to go.. however, im sorta confused...

what is the difference between sma, and rh-sma? they seem to be the same dimensions..

so far im trying to dabble into FPV to see if its something i will be into.. i think i will like it but i can not justify spending 400.00 for fatshark etc at this point. however, if i like the screen in the hobby king cheapies, my guess is fatsharks may not be ideal? but that other set that hit the market is more like these.. time will tell. i may have to try and get out of my shell, and maybe i can find someone local to try fatsharks.. time will tell i see.. im such a shy hermit these days.

im trying to enter this on a budget so far this is the amount im into FPV so far.. which i think about as cheap as anyone will be able to get into it.

shopping list.

Quanum DIY FPV Goggle V2 w/5 inch LCD Monitor (Kit) : $72.00

2Pcs 5.8GHz Circular Polarized Antenna RP-SMA TX/RX DJI Walkera FatShark FPV : $8.99

5.8G RIGHT ANGLE SMA FEMALE/MALE ANTENNA CONNECTOR f RC AIRCRAFT FPV(6PCS) : $5.98

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191216387191?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

the total up to this point.

$151.39

so i figure for under 200.00 i will be able to get into FPV. now if you went with a 13.00 cam, and order the 2.8 lens for it for 2.00 etc maybe a better way to go than the 35.00 i spent for a camera.. and ill probably order such and compare the two cameras. should be interesting to see how that will turn out.. also there is probably cheaper items.. so my guess for 140.00 someone on a budget could get into FPV?

im thinking 200.00 as i am thinking 20.00 for a battery, and misc.. and then i will have to spend 30.00 or so for the Ham radio license test book. but i am not going to buy the book or worry about taking the test until i see if FPV is something im gonna invest more money into with better hardware.. immersion RX, fatshark, or headsplay.. etc..

thanks for letting me talk/think out loud it helps me for some odd reason, laughs. hope this helps others. i will be sure to snap some photos of all the FPV parts when they get here to finish this thread off.

it should be interesting to see how this old brain of mine will do with a test. laughs. iv been out of college for quite a few years now. sigh.

Too bad we can't have graphics in the signature, that would be an awesome pic to run.

Dunno about that. How good are you at ascii art?

See my pic of a recent flight? ;)
