Free 3d printed motor glider from Eclipson

Good luck, but I’m sure it will come out great.

I have a few flights on mine so far, and with the recommended motor and prop, it flies great, one of my favorite Eclipson planes actually. My only complaint, and it’s really just a nitpick, is a wish it had a removable wing. If they ever offer a paid version with a removable wing, I would definitely pick one up.

Sent them a note about using magnets to hold the wing on but haven't heard back from them. Like minds.....

Hi tomlogan,

I have a few questions for you. I am planning to print the Go 1 Wolf myself. This will be my first 3D printed plane. I plan to use PLA filament. What parameters should I start with on the printer ? My printer is a Ender 3V2. I received my files for the plane yesterday. I have not open the files up yet. Does the files have parameters for printing listed ? I could use a lot of help. I am a rookie when it comes to 3D printing.

Thank you for any help,
Al

First and foremost, make sure your bed is level.
Second, take the easy way: When you unzip the archive, use the PLA gcode files, they are already prepared for you so you do not have to worry about that. For me I print one piece at a time. It might seem like you could print two small pieced at a time but that can cause stringing.

Print the entier fuse or wing at once so you get some gratification that it might look like an airplane is being built. Don't try to do it at once. Take your time and enjoy the ride. If 1 piece prints poorly, reprint it. PLA is inexpensive. Save the bad piece to practice glueing or painting on PLA.

Lastly, have fun. This is a hobby, not a job. Treat is as such.

Hi tomlogan,

Thank you for the help and the kind works of advice. I hope I understand what you have told me. So I don't need to use the slicer to get the files ready for printing like you have to do with things off of Thingiverse. I will try to print some of the small parts and move up to the bigger parts. I will also print out (not to be confused with 3d printing) the part page so I can see how the plane goes together.

Thank you again for the help, I hope your plane is coming together the way you are hoping for.

Correct. G-codes are already sliced and ready to go.

Hi Everyone,

Just a little update on my journey with the Go1 Wolf. Having problems. So I started a new thread asking for help. I don't want to take away from this thread.

Would you believe that the only thing that i have done with my 3d printer is just to open the box and just took a look at it. It's being over a year. just not enough time and a lot of project to do with it .

Hi Everyone,

I have a question for the guys that have printed out the Go 1 Wolf. I am starting to print out my parts. I have had success with the pilot, motor holder and the pillow. I tried to print spinner 1&2 with no luck. For some reason my 3d printer wanted to start the print in the upper right hand corner of the print bed. I thought that was very unusual. My spinner looked like a flat peak. It's little over 1" tall and flat. About less then 1/64" thick. It is not round at all. Working on an aileron and things look good. The print started in the middle of the bed. I'm curious to know what has happened with for spinner to have the part start in the upper right hand corner. Sounds like some bad Gcode. But what do I know. This is the first time I have used Gcodes from someone else. I know a spinner is not important.

I'm just curious. I believe this is how you learn.

Had the same issue on that one, too. Just get the stl files out of the PLA folder instead of the g-codes and print them one at a time.

Fun comes when the bigger pieces start to appear. The file should be an "mp4" but it was unacceptable. It is just a 4 second vid of a wing printing. If you want it, download it and it and get rid of the pdf extension.

I am not sure how you get the stl files out. Rookie here on 3d printing. What if I go into my slicer (Creality Slicer) and down load the 3d image into the slicer from the Go 1 Wolf file that has a 3d image ? Could that work to slice the files ? If that works ? What should the parameters be ? 20% infill and 220*c on the the printer end with a bed temp of 60*c ? Right now most of the file for PLA like to be printed at 220*f and a bed temp of 60*c.

Attached should get you going. I'm probably the worst instructor that exists so I show pictures.

The spinner has an infill density of 10. Greater details in the downloaded doc and on the web site. View attachment 236343

Hi tomlogan,

Thank you again for the help. Your pictures work great. I don't have the computer skills to even post pictures. I was able to slice and print out the spinner. I probably don't have the correct infill. My spinner looks fragile. One flight and probably it will break. I am learning more about my 3d printer with your help.

Thank you again,
Al

Hi tomlogan,

Still working on printing out parts. Not sure when I will have all the parts finished being printed. Also I don't have any pictures yet. I work like a turtle on things (slow). :D Plus also my carbon tubes still need to come.
