Ok, after a long HK back-order wait, I finally got my box of goodies! Out came the soldering gear and the music box. After jamming out for a bit I managed to get my ESC hooked up to some bullet connectors and a JST connector (battery) as well as a charging whip I set up the radio system on my workbench. Everything works great! put it all into the plane, adjusted CG, hooked up the push-rods and took it out for a maiden.
2 things happened:
>>1.) over 5yrs away from the hobby shows in some rusty piloting.
>>2.) this is a durable little plane!
I crashed about a half-dozen times but it's generally in good condition. I broke the firewall, but it was balsa, DOH! After a quick patch with some hot glue and plywood it was back in the air. I also found out 0.58mm push rods are no good. I switched to 1.00mm so I'll see how that goes tomorrow. I also put some V bends in the new push rods so I have to do less digital trim.
@colorex: How were your motors? Smooth like silk or did they have a course feeling to them? I got 2 and both aren't the smoothest motor I've ever felt, but I'm new to the out-runner market. That being said, it winds up fast and with the 2s it glides nice. I'll play with that for a bit before I try going like stink and using the 3s. The 2s crashes just fast enough for me, haha!
