FTFC'25 MS Design I 153 designed by FlyerInStyle

For this challenge, I will be desigigning a I - 153, a interesting WWII biplane built in the USSR< called hte Chaika, a modification of hte iconic I-15, it should be a fun design and hte biplane should make it really fun. It will probably be in the c- pack or f-pack size, that will be decided just a bit later, as I can design it and hten figure htat out by scaling up or down.

Got some progress done, and found the limitations of my current CAD, and so time to go back to fusion!

Sadly no, school and finals and AP tests and all that. I'll probably work on it more soon but can't build it till flitefest

Yup, school is keeping me busy too. I’ve been staying up lately that way I can still build planes🙂

I don't have that option... I also have my own design of plane that I have been itching to bring to reality and my huge flitefest build. Sadly this just came at an uncomfortable time for me. Maybe I'll still make it fly after the challenge

I finally switched CADs to fusion360. @Mr Man Do you think I need all of these formers or should I remove some? also I will probably make it non mini, as bigger flies better.

@Mr Man I hope you dont mind me bugging you too much, but do you think this is a good length center pod? I cant run it to the end cause the formers get slimmer, but should I make a change to a slimmer one and run it to the end? also how do you make your skins? do you just loft hte entire surface, loft then shell, how do you make hte thickness correct? also how do you unfold them? I am making this in fusion but dont mind importing it into onshape speecifically for unfolding

Yup, that’ll work, I do sometimes make a second smaller pod for the back, but not always, and I just loft from the formers to make skins.

ok, thanks. You use guide rails for the skins too, to make them proper, right?
