Hello, to anyone who reads this. As I put in the title I am searching for a little help and from watching the YouTube videos this was the first place I thought of for help.

I was recently gifted three blade helicopters, three small airplanes, and two drones one set up with FPV and a set of dominator glasses. Along with this came a box full of spare parts some new some used, basically everything the guy was getting rid of as he got out of the hobby. My experience is very limited to The occasional RTF airplane and helicopter.

I'm hoping for a little help with the drones and trying to figure out what I have. The main concern for me at the moment is I have no transmitter that I can pair with the drones everything I've ever purchased was RTF. What he gave me has spectrum receivers they seem older DSM technology. The one currently on the drone says it's eight channel and has something plugged into every channel. So I would need to purchase a radio. Question one, do I have to buy a spectrum radio or is there an alternative that might be a little cheaper since I don't know if I will like this or not.

Yes, I would personally buy a RadioMaster TX16, look it up if you want, it works with basically every type of radio and it is only $200, also, if you could post pictures of everything you got we could hook you up with some manuals, tips, etc to get flying. Not much more I can help with until I get more info on what you got.

I ordered the raido you mentioned. This is most of what I was given I left out the batteries since most are swolen. The helicopters and airplanes I mentioned I know what to do with but, this stuff I have limited to no knowledge of.

I feel like most of this is the grandfather of the current quadcopter technology.

Some of it is, but it will still work fine, with the drones you pretty much need to bind them to the new remote and fly them, they should be all set up, there are other people on the forums who will be much more help then me, @PsyBorg
