Basically you will want to make sure your wing spars are strong enough and probably a pieces of wood to mount the retracts on instead of the upper wing skin as that could bust out easily.

I think the retracts should point inwards from the "corners" on the bottom of each wing (which is exactly why the Corsair was designed with an inverted gull wing), but you do weathever works best

The wing was designed around a large engine, large prop, short stronger gear, and avoiding prop strike.
Scale gear would retract up and back at the low point of the wing.
