Help! Hinge tape over or under

In my latest build I cut through the aileron hinge just a little too deep. I'm now forced to use hinge tape. Every one says the 3M blenberm tape is the best thing to use. My question is paint first then apply the tape or apply tape then paint. I just wondering how this tape sticks to painted foam board.

I would say tape first.

I have good results using some of the paper pulled from a scrap of foam. I have used hot glue or white glue to attach the paper, both work well. When you paint, it looks like the original because it is.

You mean instead of tape?

Well well well, I tried it. Works great, would have never thought about doing that.

Yes, tape will work but the paper will look better.
I also put paper on the inside of my hinge. Just do the smear hot glue on the inside of the hinge thing. Then add the paper and hit it with my old covering iron to reactivate the glue. I have never had one of those hinges delaminate. I'm sure white glue would work equally well.
