This is probably the fastsest quad I finished. Was running on a 6S 1000mah pack here.

I should put a new set of props on it and bust it out again sometime. Last time I flew it, the "landing" broke most of the props. LOL

Well, ok, half the props and the antenna
Think the last time it flew was at Edgewater.

hit the ghost power line just south of the main runway

Yeah, my brother did that with his drone....It made really loud squawk and shot it like 20ft away

Pretty fast!

I have a few others that I never finished that in theory could be faster.... I got to a point where 1 minute of fly time was kinda absurd and started flying more planes FPV. I mean @2200 watts, a pack doesn't last long at full throttle! LOL

I don't know what you mean.....A drone can NEVER be tooo fast! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Just kidding! lol

what up everyone.

two updates:

one: lost another 2207 2750kv on 4s with a 5x50x3. this time i was pretty confused as i lost it immediately after launch, up, right hand u turn, over head, lift up right and it fell from the sky. i had to get a machete and cut thru about 200 linear feet of un passable over growth in a wooded area. i thought i lost telemetry, but when i found the plane the prop was 100% melted, all glue near mount was melted, the wood motor mount i built was burned, esc dead, graphene battery dead.

two: i am building an Alpha frame which which will be powered by a 2808 1950kv motor on a 5.2x60 with 3000 g of thrust. it will have modified wings to match Charlie with wing extensions removed (like in picture) and double layered all the way to trailing edge and wing tips. double layer vertical stabilizer, and double layer elevrons. i also built the motor mounts from wood. i honestly dont know what to expect, my hope is under run the motor while having enough headroom to cruise at 80/90 in hopes of not catching a plane on fire.

eventually i will create a youtube page and post some vids.

✌🏻

well…

almost done with the 2808 plane.

this thing can run 4s-6s, my intentions were 4s, and I figured i would put on another 100 grams…holy crap i put on another extra 200 grams…thats all loaded up.

i have no clue what to expect on 4s as i can only find data for 6s.

the build is awesome, slick and clean, a solid wing, solid elevrons, solid vertical stabilozers.

still working out battery bay.

providing we get good weather tomorrow i am going to instal control rods and test.

loaded plane is 900 grams snd change, every other Alpha, Charlie, Bravo, Flerken i built was between 500-620 grams loaded. i thought i would land in the 750 gram range not just under 1000 grams.

however, see charts. i am going from roughly 1500 grams thrust to 2500+ grams of thrust. RPM is less on 2808 vs 2208, but hopefully there is so much torque the plane is just fixed in the air.

i was concerned running 4s would be a significant power drop, but it appears it will not be. first test will be on a 5.2x60 prop.

will get video snd a youtube channel soon.

so what do you all think? just judging of previous pics and info provided…is it gonna shred or be a tub…????

It’ll rip for sure! I’m not sure how fast “rip” will be tho😂. I’ll put my bet on 88

why 88?

i am still pretty baffled by the discrepancy in perceived speed by people on here.

guys saying their plane is 100mph +…when i am not hitting that with more power, more rpms etc….snd honestly…professional fabrication level building,

i said it on here before, i was a competitive athlete and in various motor sports….for 40 yrs i have watched people say “i’m / its doing 120mph”…only to get the radar gun out and see speeds in the 60/70 mph range.

one basic way to perceive real speed…basic formula for distance traveled per second is:

speed / 2 = X + speed = distance

ex

75 mph / 2 =37.5 mph
75 + 37.5 =112.5 feet per second

75 mph is traveling 112 feet per second, so in three seconds thats a foot ball field. 6 seconds 2 football fields. so 6 seconds later the plane is out of sight.

i have yet to see a single plane on here travel anything close to 300 feet per 3 seconds…think how fast the camera would have to move to keep up…

my 2208 2750kv plane which just caught fire was traveling across a linear distance of 1000 feet with markers at point A and B, over 8 seconds, which is 90 mph. we had a man at mark 1 and mark 2 both with stop watches, and a pro camera man so we could then verify the time…the plane was so fast it could not be focused on with the camera, and was just a silver blur.

i know i forums everyone is always right and always ready to fight, thats 100% not me. i am doing the opposite, i am under assuming my speed in hopes of learning to build better, to be better.

that being said, i do not believe 99% of the reported speeds i read on here.

no gps no radar no proof.

I have seen GPS readings glitch on some "video proof" FPV videos on utoob. A single video frame speed reading alone does not constitute proof unless the speed ramps up and tails off or is held for a period of time. I have been flying a long time. 100 is fast and I have not been over it much. I mostly bump up around 80-90 max with what I have flown in the past. This summer that may change with a few projects almost complete and on the way.

yeah i think what you are saying sounds pretty accurate. again, i have NOT yet used gps or radar, but have with three people calculated and recorded to verify a 1000 foot pass. did it probably 100 times. 90 mph seems to be the top end of a 2208 2750kv. and if you do it a lot…it will catch fire 😂

90 mph is the fastest i have yet to calculate, and thats been with around 30 different airframes. and…90 mph is flat out hauling ass, like creates sound waves you can physically feel when it passes. i mean HAULING ASS.

Yeah, I retract my previous guess, as you hit 90 with the other motor, my new guess is………….

103!
