Thank you for your comments and encouragement. I have received my new batteries, they are 2S 800mah 40C LiPos. They are much better to fly with than the 25C ones that I was getting stick time with. I think I see more 40C batteries in my future for this. Seventeen packs have went through it and I have enjoyed every five minute session. I don't regret buying it at all. It was a challenge to magnify and solder all those tiny connections, but so worth it.
I hope that my fixed wing skills have not suffered too much. LOL
I should say that I have yet to try it FPV. I have a micro switch installed behind the camera which allows me to fly LOS while not interfering any FPV flyers, the camera is just ballast so far. I should be able to get some LOS flying in at Flite Fest.
