New R84 Receiver, no LED when trying to bind

Hello all, my son has just gotten a new Tiny Tutor starter bundle as his first RC plane. He's built the plane, but we're having a heck of a time divining how to bind the R84 receiver to the RadioMaster Pocket radio.

After searching these forums, we've learned that we're to hold down the bind button on the R84 while connecting the battery, after putting the RadioMaster in bind mode. Evidently the LED on the R84 is supposed to flash in some meaningful way, but ours does not light up at all. Might we have a defective receiver? Is there some other way to convince it to light up?

Thanks for any help. We're both new to this and are getting frustrated with this first kit.

I had the same issue with recievers when I first started. While I'm sure you'll get other suggestions and advice, I'd recommend you check the polarity of your wires into your receiver. Make sure those are correct. Keep trying and good luck.

Normally the receiver is put into bind mode then the transmitter is turned on. As mentioned above make sure your wires are plugged into the receiver correctly usually signal white or yellow is to the top of the receiver and plugged into the correct port.
