Hey everyone. I recently stepped up my print game in a BIG way by purchasing an Original Prusa MK4 kit. I have the printer assembled and have been printing with it for a little over a month now. Absolutely love this machine and cannot recommend it enough.

I’m with you. Putting the kit together was fun and using it is a blast. I’ve printed with PLA, PLA+, PETG and TPU and every print has been flawless using their standard settings. My favorite thing is how easy the filament change is. I’m glad I started with an Ender 3v2 (a good machine) because now I appreciate what an exceptional machine the MK4 is.
Have you tried the latest firmware? It’s cut 40% off my print times.

I got a mk3 as my first printer and it has been great and was a gateway into building a bunch of core xy printers. I have a mk4 to build and add to my collection and enjoy the consistency and reliability of the Prusa. The others are fast and fun, but need more work to maintain reliability.

I have a 3V2 as well, recently upgraded with a Revo Hemera XS and it's great. Still a fraction of the price of a Prusa, even including the BLTouch, RPi and time spent setting up Klipper.

Yes, I have update to the latest firmware. Love, love, love the speed I am getting with input shaper enabled. Very fast and still high quality prints.

Just upgraded my MK4 to MK4S. Just as easy as the kit and seems to be worth it.

I upgraded my MK4 to the MK4S about a month ago. Love that I can keep upgrading this thing. I will be adding the MMU3 in a month or so. As soon as the CORE One upgrade kit is available to order I will be upgrading to that.

I'm still pondering the core one upgrade. If I go that direction I might just sell my 4S and buy the core kit - not necessarily in that order :)

I have not upgraded as I don’t want to jinx anything! I bought the MK4 and it has chewed through kilo after kilo of filament without complaint. A huge upgrade from the Lulzbot I had been using. Slowly my planes are becoming weird hybrids of foamboard, plywood and 3d printing.

I am still piddling around with "cheap" printers. One of these days I need to pick up a Prusa and see what all the hype is about. Knowing me, it will be a used one that needs work....

I started with an Ender 3v2 and had fun with it and learned a lot. It was about a 1:1 ratio of fiddling and printing. I'm glad I started with it because now I appreciate how good the Prusa is. I've had the MK4 for over a year and have had one issue - my failure to clean the tip of the nozzle after printing with Petg and changing to pla. It had the first layer printing above the bed.
If you upgrade to a Prusa get the kit. You build foam board planes so you already like building things so you'll have fun putting the kit together. I was amazed. Built the printer, turned it on and did the preflight, first print perfect.

I thought about doing the same and just buying the prebuilt unit. Not sure what the used 4S market will be after the CORE One comes out though. I'll probably just upgrade the one I have for now.

I hope you have at least updated the firmware to support input shaper for the speed.

The MK4S with the high flow nozzle adds a little more speed as well. Well worth the $99 IMO.

My experience was similar. I started with an ANET A8 kit. That was even more build intensive than the Prusa with lower quality instructions. From there I upgraded to a Creality CR-20 Pro. A nice step up, but both required regular maintenance and fine tuning. I agree with buying the kit. If you can build a plane you should be just fine putting the printer kit together. It also helps you learn how it works and how to maintain it later.
