Question for those who have built a "HJ-Y3" tri-copter, or know of a mini tri frame?
hey guys im gonna build a tri-copter. im looking at the Y3 frame.. i like the looks of it, and the video iv seen.
it reminds me of the avatar war chopper on pandora.
i remember mentioning i liked this air frame and someone said do not waste the money on the carbon fiber frame.. i just would like to get some more feed back.. im just wondering in this design would carbon be any better assuming its real carbon which may of been what the person was talking about./ as i look at this design as a flying I-Beam. so its real strength is gonna come from the M# screws, and spacers in a hard crash anyhow.. .
i just want a small tri-copter. id love a twitch but that is not a option..
so im looking at this one in either glass or carbon

carbon

the price difference is about 17.00.
plans are some emax 2204, Simon sires 12A ESC, and CC3D. ( thanks for the great deal on the parts lynxaz )
the only other mini tri-coptor frame i guess is maybe hobby kings trifecta.. it looks neat.

im jealous of you twitch frame guys
heh.. ( can you think of any mini tri-coptor frames off hand? )
this tri-coptor build is gonna keep me busy while i collect parts for my more expensive fpv machine im gonna be building over the summer. any other quad frame is out of the equation as i only have 3 motors/esc.. and its not worth buying a extra Emax esc/motor to build a quad.. so a tri-copter makes the most sense and the reason i bought these parts.
thanks guys for all your help.. so much to learn, woohoo..
im glad learning about this stuff is fascinating. from hardware/software to just the multirotor history.. it really does feel like a small community.
chris.
