Removing paper from Australian foam board

Just thought Id share a way I use to remove the paper from the very heavy foamboard we get here, as removing the paper makes a massive difference to its weight & is well worth it.
An A1 sheet (840x594mm of type below) weighs about 290g with paper on after paper removed weighs 115g & the foam quality is excellent.
The only way Ive found that works is to soak it with metho, three or four coats with a brush (small paint roller probably quicker), make sure it soaks right through the paper to break down the glue, leave it a while & you can peel paper off from A1 sheet in one piece no problem.
Not sure if it works with all brands of foamboard, but works well with this stuff Ive been getting, 'Canson Foamcore' its under $7.00 for A1 sheet from here

Wow those prices are high. I can't imagine not being able to walk in dollar General and buy the stuff for a dollar.

Maybe you Will be able to benefit from flitetest distributing the stuff or whatever it is their gonna do. Heard something about it on a podcast but didn't pay much attention as it won't really effect me. I do recall them saying something about a possible new type of foamboard from Adams made specifically for our purpose. That would be awesome if the price stayed down.

I get my foam from Foamboards.com.au. Me and a friend go halves in the price then it works out to about $7.18 per sheet which is larger than a A1 sheet

A1 = 594 x 841mm
A0 = 841 x 1189mm
Foamboards.co.au = 1015 x 815

The site also displays 25 sheets in a box but all orders so far has come in at 30 sheets per box. Well worth looking into if you know you are going to build FB planes. Having stock also helps in building more designs and even trying out designing your own stuff. My wife even nicked some for her painting. I have not tried removing a whole sheets paper before but smaller pieces do peel off easily if you work carefully and not fast.

Hope this info helps.
