SAAB J27 (warbird prototype)

Sweden SAAB company planned upgrade their planes in the 40´s, and made a few designideas, and prototypes.
It was a little bit of this, a little bit of that , it could seem to be. The J27 got the cowlintake similar to Mustang, some of Fuselage as Spitfire, Mustang placement of radiator, Martin Baker contra prop system, Fairy firefly similarity at wings ( rounder wingtips than Spitfire, thicker roots, and other flairing) and so on.
Firefly designer was also helping in the Swedish Super Spitfire (as called) and got Fairey’s characteristic Youngman flaps.

Their earlier model L26 was made by a few, but J27 showed be superior, and the "Super Spitfire" was the last prop driven fighter by Sweden before jetplane age came.
As many knows...unique unusual planes are what most of my builds are, even this time
Mini warbirds is something ive not worked on, and about time to do it. I used the plans on the "Master style" Mini Spitfire from @Grifflyer as the start, and reworked the parts to fit the SAAB, who i got a 3D drawing of.
By put the profile lines from the SAAB on top off the Spitfire and Mustang, it was easy see what/and where it needed work/rework.

Here is a few photoshop pictures of a model who isnt fully correct,, and a profile drawing on the SAAB L27 , Mustang and Spitfire who shows some of similaritys.

started building...
This time i wouldnt build with counter rotation props, and made the "rearward propspinner part" as a part of the fuselage instead, to mimick how profileshape is. (the first skin at picture)

Because the SAAB have a small air inlet under prop spinner in front, i cut a "V" in the front of (#a) skin in center of belly, and filled with a foamboard piece, to get that actual air inlet.

The Swedes make such cool planes I can’t wait to see this thing all built up!
Ill try make plans on the changed parts from your Spitfire.

When they made their first Jet ( "the Barrel") it did even set speedrecords over US planes.... even if looked as a "wrecked" fat Goose, as one testpilot said, but in air, it was a graze to fly.

The J27 was drawed for using the R&R Griffon engine, that most western fighters wanted,or had.
The J21 (twin boom) was recognized as quite exeptional as flyer.. and they also made that with pusher prop and later jet engine. AND had ejection seat. The later jets... well, even today, specialists says a SAAB jet can handle the russian best fighters...and dont need a airstrip, as long its a road close by...

wing done. Still using the plans from the Spitfire, with some changes in profil, and an extra half length spar inside.
Also as mentioned, the SAAB had Fairy Youngman Flaps.... a type where whole flaps surface go rearward and down, then adjusted in angle. In this build i dont want flaps, but made faked "Youngmans", aka a lowered surface rearward in same angle as wing.
Still missing here the fillets in front and rear.

since its a belly lander, and i try to save som props.. i decided make a few bombs/droptanks placed as it will keep prop off ground when sitting.
"holders" are reinforced with a bbq stick into bomb, and through plywood inserted in wing (and glued).
Bomb was made of blue foam, cutted and sanded to shape, before reinforced with a layer of woodglue..

The aerodome close by are only grass, and small wheels is not fit to use. (neither in snow :))
