You humble me with your talents and multi-lingual skills brother!

And you flatter me with your comments, Josh!

My Swedish blood makes me feel familiarity with David... LOL My parents taught me Swedish, my parents and movies and books taught me English, and I learned Spanish by living it.

OK, you know my name....I am 13 (Yeh, I know, I'm young), and have built 3 successful (Including one that I finished and flew today) scratchbuilds, and 2 that flew but were not successful, and pretty much all I think about is RC planes! I'm an RC addict!

Howdy Jeff,

You may be young but that doesn't say anything about your talent. My son can school pretty much everyone I know. This is not only an excellent hobby to get into but if you work it right, you can apply what you enjoy about flying to make your normally boring school work much more exciting. In other words, if you have to do a report, make it have something to do with flying. It's much much easier to write about something you are passionate about.

This hobby has also helped my sons ability to engineer around problems in the state Science Olympiad competition held every year.

Welcome to the forum and I'm looking forward to seeing pix of your builds. I'm currently in work on a wing.

hey Jeffrey, welcome to the fourm. Don't let anyone tell you, you are too young for this hobby! I was around 12-13 when I started into this hobby and I had problems bc the "old timers" didn't want to give the time of day bc they said I was to young to be at the control of a RC plane and nobody at my flying wanted to show me how to fly properly...but that didn't stop me. I pretty much showed myself how to fly and they didn't have simulators back then like they have now. So many crashes later I could take off and land no problem. Many years later I try to help the younger generation how to enjoy this hobby. So Good For You getting into this while your young bc someday you will be flying circles around some of the older folks!

Hi all,

I'm Gregor. I'm 34 and I live in Austria. I'm flying now for about 10 years, most of my planes are scratch builds and own designs (I like to experiment...). There is also an old IKARUS ECO8 heli in my hangar.
Since I saw Davids ballon hunting I was totally fascinated by the tricopter. And after HK released the quadcopter controller board i've build my own based on Davids build tips (thanks!).

So, nothing more to say...

Hi Everyone,

I'm Non Action Man, most just call me NAM for short. I live in South Australia, and I'm very new to the hobby.... I was toying with the idea to get me out of the house a bit more (I also play computer games) and it was the Josh's that tipped me over the edge into the hobby.

I haven't flown yet, still waiting on some gear to arrive :( But hopefully it'll be here soon!

Keep up the great work guys!

NAM

I just don't. Culture shock, maybe? I can tell you that the food is really good here, and that I live 30 minutes from the beach.

Almost the same for me, though I build chuck gliders and not RC planes.

Hello

Hello everyone.
Dave from Michigan, here. Near Detroit (Downriver) to be more exact. I've been flying since May of this year and have managed to learn alot more in that short time than I woud have thought possible. I have an E-Flite apprentice that I cut my teeth on and an Airfield P-51 Mustang that I am currently learning to "take up and bring down in a safe and controlled manner". I really enjoy watching the Flitetest Youtube channel and hope the very best success for all who are involved in that effort. Congrats on the new sponsor! I was worried you guys were going to end up being a mouthpiece for Hobby King which I believe would have eventually over-commercialized your videos which might have ended up being endorsements for the Hobby King product line. Nothing against them but competiton is healthy for any business. Love the channel, the videos and the forum. Good luck to you all.

Howdy!

Hey, I'm Todd. I've been flying RC for about a year now. I've always been an aviation nut. Built a ton of plastic model planes. I helped my Dad build his RC planes when I was in high school. And, i flew a few times under his watchful eye. I flew as an ECMO in EA-6Bs in the USN. But, now I'm working in the IM field here at GE.

I had always wanted to get back to RC planes after the fun I had with my Dad. But, they were always just a bit more expensive than I could justify. Now with the great improvements in electric motors and LiPo batteries it is much more affordable for me. I started with an Airfield Skytrainer (C182) and I've had a lot of fun with it. My youngest son has flown it a few times and also enjoys flying it. He's part of my regular ground crew. :) Now my current hangar also contains an FMS Mustang and Warhawk, and a Dynam PBY. I'm also still working on a Herr Models Ryan STA conversion to a Navy PT-16.

I really enjoy the Flitetest videos. They all seem like a really great crew. It would be nice to meet them one day.

Regards,
Todd

Hi gang,

My name is Jeremy, I used to be very active in building and flying RC and freeflight aircraft in the 80's and 90's, but time and interest faded, and I haven't flown anything for many years. Flite Test got me interested again, and I'm looking forward to getting back into the hobby. FPV looks fascinating, but I live in a densely populated area, so I'll stick to park fliers for now. What I used to build and fly were mostly slope gliders, hand launch thermal gliders, and stick & tissue freeflight models. Basically anything quiet, small, and graceful in flight captured my imagination. Those of you who are new to the hobby sure have got it good. The equipment that's readily available today is absolutely amazing! Electrics used to be heavy, fragile, and had short running times. Now with LiPo's, brushless motors, tiny servos, tiny receivers, 2.4GHz radios, and great looking and flying small models on hobby shop shelves, it's far easier to get something cool that you can fly at your local park. Airplanes that weren't even possible 15 years ago are common now. It's an exciting time to be an RC pilot. :)

Wow, the last 24 hours have really been good to the forum.

Welcome Gregor, NAM, Steve, Dave, Todd, & Jeremy.

This forum is growing by leaps and bounds and I am personally enthused to see such a group of positively motivated people who crave flying. We are all in good company. I look forward to reading the posts & seeing the videos and photos you all will surely have from your own experiences.

I am also a student studying for CCNA and Cisco security/ I have only been flying RC airplanes since April and I own 2 cubs one stock and one with ailerons and brushless. I also own a scratch build but it might as well be a scratch n crash. I admit Im not a fan of flite test but I do enjoy forumns beceaus I learn a lot from the folks on them I also stink at typing and never can find the spell checker

Welcome aboard Fish,

First of all, thank you for your service to our country. Of all the bases I've been to in the military, I've always preferred the Air Force bases.

I've only known a handful of people from Montana but they all say it's very nice.

Scratch-building is a blast though there are a couple of kits I'd like to do too(the 1400mm Corsair for example). What is yours like? I'm currently in-work on a wing. In fact I need to post some pix on it now.
