Seagull extra 260 180 Motor/engine help?

Hello all so this airframe I picked up will be my first tip toe into big aircraft. I have biggish stuff guinea pig, 140 scale bushwacker, but this is totally different. I fly and have flow 3d lots, I'm no where near new, probably no where near as good as this plane deserves either, but it's mine now. So to the question, all my other planes are electric. Do I go power 160 on 10s and save money and weight? Do I step into gas? I've seen pics and under stand thrust angles but the manual says put engine on mounts and drill holes looks like no thrust, how could that be? Would I need to put thrust angle in on the electric? I'm a little confused at this point. Electric is what I know and is for sure the cheaper way to go but not sure if setup will be fun, either way it will fly. Thanks for any help.

I have been looking too. I think the power 160 should have lots....ok maybe not lots but enough. Should fly up to a 15lbs model. This thing I'm hoping to bring it at 12.5-13lbs flying weight. I've measured center of wing tube to motor box and it's the same side to side. So the angle is not built in. Not sure how much or if to put thrust angle in.

Haha nice! :)

I am not sure on thrust angle, I think on bigger planes it isn't as much of a thing as needed on smaller planes.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. But from what I'm seeing online no thrust angle. I would think like smaller planes they would build it in. But I measured it twice, there is none. Nothing I can find online about it on this plane, for thrust anyways.

Thanks Bob read threw it. I'm going to start bolted to the firewall and go from there. Might toss a parachute into it just in case I need to abort a bad flight lol!!!

I am/was a huge gasser fan, but electrics sure are nice. You will spend lots of time messing with a ic engine, unlike just plugging it battery. Not to mention, less vibration, and gaving a clean plane sure are nice! If you want to stay on a budget (keep the wife happy) get the emax gt series motors, and there HV ESC's. I am really like electric lately, but you can recharge a gasser instantly! Especially for 3D, I would use electric, but that's just my two cents

She's over it!! Said no bigger but that's what she said when I built the big BW. I'm going to run a power 160 and a castle creations talon 130amp ESC, hitec digital servos 92oz at 6 volts and a hitec 100oz on the rudder. Will run 2 x 5000mah 5s batteries in series. With a 20x10 prop. Should have all I would ever need and more than I probably want.

Yes pricy, but I don't want to limit my prop selection or find out on the first flight that I'm under powered. Plus the motor and ESC are cheaper than a gas motor, and the ESC has a built in bec so no extras to buy.batteries are rechargeable, gas keeps costing money.

So I've been looking around and not sure if I should use hobbyking stand offs or the great planes xl motor mount stand. I'm a little worried that with standoffs the torque might damage the firewall. With the motor I need 100mm to reach the front of the cowl.
