Beginner. Bixler 2 and first FPV rig

Hello all, I have recently started flying RC, and aside from a trusty UMX Sport Cub, I came across a great deal on a new Bixler 2 ARF, which should be arriving on the mail soon.
While I can't wait to explore the flight envelope and capabilities of this handy model, somehow it seems to beg for an FPV system.
So far, I have used an eFlite 720p Camera to record my flights on the UMX, but I can see the great appeal of having first person view and some sort of OSD or Telemetry accessible while flying the Bix2.
Thanks to all of the great posts in the forum I will be trying to keep the setup really light, and with the stock parts (though I am adding the flap servos right away).
Question is, what is a good budget FPV system that one could implement in something like the Bix2?
Sure, I wish I could 1080 all the way, with Fatshark and other goodies, but right now I am not able to spend $400 on a nice configuration.
What would you recommend, that can provide the benefits of flying the Bixler 2 to higher altitudes and a bit further down range, without having to rely alone on visual cues?
While I have been mostly a Park flyer so far, I'd love to have a chance to start exploring the FPV world.
I saw the Spektrum FPV Micro rig, seemed rather tempting.
Thanks for any comments or links.

On the bixler, skip the spektrum rig . . . you'll be out of range before you can even think about turning around.

- HK's Quantum Complete kit - ~$100 - low end goggle good VTX, VRX, and camera. *not plug-n-play* could be converted to a cheap "guest" screen.

- Fatshark's Teleporter kit - ~$200 - low end goggles, fair VTX, fair but laggy camera (with DVR)

- Fatshark's Preditor kit - ~$350 - midrange goggle, good VTX and camera.

Outstanding! thanks a bunch, Crafty Dan. Will look them up. Good thing to know about the Micro Spektrum, I would have not suspected at thing otherwise.

I use the Fatshark's Preditor kit!

I also purchased the IB Crazy Blue Beam Ultra antenna set. I can regularly fly out to 2.5 miles without any signal loss! Not with the Spektrum though. I use a Dragon Link, system. I also use a EzOSD (helps keep track of your battery level, and finding your way back). 001 (6).JPG
