Flite Fest 25 ideas

Flite Fest 24 was a fun for everyone. Aside from it being the hottest week of the year, we had a great time. Obviously, the wind was an issue on Saturday. How about people bring Airplane themed Kites for windy days. Kites can battle!
Who doesn't remember the water logged Flite Fest 17. Bring or build boats for giant puddles! Boats can batlle.
8 - 12 tables is enough space for 1/28th scale rc car race track. The cars can fly too.
More ideas people. We have creative thinkers in this family called Flite Test!
I challenge the Flite Test Community to come up with more alternative ideas for unplanned weather issues.

Kites are a good idea for the windier days. I would love to see a dedicated area for RC cars personally, but I get that its more focused on Flight rather than racing. I see a number of people "walking" their cars around the build tents and around the camp sites so there are folks that would use it.

I need to make sure A)my builds are all done BEFORE flite fest, cuz I never seem to have any build time and B) I don't forget to bring one critcal piece of EVERY build I was intending to finish.

At least my combat gear was all set to go up front. I just had wind/timing issues which kept the spiders from going up. Was helping a few people with projects this year, and was working the flight line during a couple combats too. Did manage to actually fly a plane rather than just the spiders in combats for the first time this year. :-D Fun times!!

I did my usual buy a kit before leaving (Viggen V2). Maybe this year I will have it built before next year. (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha) or at least finish the Viggen V1 I bought at Flood Fest '17!

I say we have a combat for cars/trucks! I have some cheapies that I could bash without hesitation! Who's in??

Thanks Merv. But I think you are twisting my words. Funny though. Did not expect to see that one. What ideas do you have for the 11th Anniversary of Flite Fest, Merv?

When my young son and I went to the club field, we always brought along our rocket equipment. When the wind started to get uncomfortable, we would pull out our rockets and then we would have a contest of who could figure out the launch angle to get the parachute the closest to the launch site. It's a good way to bond and keep busy.

I suggest Flite Fest have two rocket contest( father/son-daughter) and a pilot's version to keep things going. Throw in 2 kits for the winners and it will keep all amused. Make sure you use small rocket kits to keep cost down and near the site.

FF25 ideas.
I'm in the camp, if it's working don't fix it. All of the ideas mentioned are good but sometimes less is more. I'm not sure "adding" anything will make FF better.

I like it just as it is. Combat, crazy builds, fellowship, keep them coming. How do you improve perfection?

Cooler weather is my only suggestion.

Make some of the battles into (loosely) streamer combat. Only difference is that everyone should have a 20’ streamer and you’re trying to cut those, not hit each other, although hitting each other is still a given. It may result in more engagement from people who are otherwise just trying to last until the end. There would also be more action, since a typical combat results in surprisingly infrequent hits.

I saw a few hits this year which resulted in massive amounts of confetti. One in particular was a perfect storm of four planes arriving at the same point in space at the same time from various directions including head on collision.

I saw a lot of parachutes being dropped, I was hoping to as well but never finished the plane. When I flew gas we would put targets out in the field and drop bags of flour to see who came closest- I think that could be very fun at FF!

How about a payload competition? Airplane (with battery) must weight under 1000g and must be able to fly with an additional 1000g standard payload. Hand launch to make it manageable with so many people. Stay in air for three minutes and land. Combat allowed but optional. Must “land” in corn without major repairs because next round starts in five minutes. Add 250g, repeat. Last person flying wins. Only winners get weighed at the end to keep logistics manageable. Eh?

I think this comment is a little too late for this year's FF2024. But here is an idea that might be fun for next year.
since Flite Test has been competing in the red bull's Flugtag. why not make a Flite Test Flugtag 2025. What do you guys 'and Lady's think?

Besides combat, you need who is the "Badest pilot" and since combat is hit and miss, you need a LIMBO contest. We use to have it at our Funfly's and that promotes certainly fellowship and lots of laughs within the group as well as the carnage.
